Section 1.3 The Language of Film
In order to analyse literature and film in detail, and in order to be able to make clear, substantiable statements about both media in your own writing, it is important to have the appropriate vocabulary at your finger tips. The following links will lead you to glossaries of terms relating to the study of the printed word, the static as well as the moving image. Return to these sites often through your reading and writing. Furthermore, you might wish to conduct general searches for specific terms beyond the confines of these glossaries. Do not forget that you might find more information in any of a number of excellent print glossaries of film and literary terms. Consult your Student Manual for some suggested sources, or search the Athabasca University library catalogue.
