Section 8.1: African Women's Writing

Supplementary Reading

Begin your search on African writing with Florida University's site on writing called Voices of Change. The site has information on many of the authors collected in the anthology that you will find pertinent and interesting. Try to follow some of the recommended links and see where they take you.

The French Department at the University of Western Australia has developed a site devoted to Women Writers and Francophone African Literature. Much of it is in English. This is an excellent resource, not to be missed.

Stanford University Libraries maintains an excellent index of resources on African Literature that can serve as a starting point for further research on African writing by men and women.

Peter Limb's A-Z Guide to African Studies on the Internet offers another comprehensive index of everything pertaining to Africa, including literature, culture, politics, and art. Browse through this index to locate sites that may be relevant to your reading of the African women's anthology. Remember, as always, to keep track of the sites you visit so that you can find them again when you are preparing to write your essay.
