Future Trends: Succession Management, Police Governance

Overview

Unit 9 examines the importance of adaptability and the need for police managers to look to the future. Managers simply must recognize and respond to the trends and issues confronting policing. Whether these are technological, social, or economic, they must be viewed as vehicles for organizational change. Without a thorough awareness of future trends, police managers cannot hope to be effective change managers, nor can they realistically implement and evaluate the programs necessary for change to unfold. Unit 9 examines the concept of strategic human resource management and the changing role of police governance boards.
