Knowledge Management

Overview

Unit 6 assesses the role of knowledge management in an evolving police organization, its importance in the implementation of problem-solving initiatives, and its use as an effective managerial tool. Numerous hurdles impede communication networks and processes within an organization, and while some of these hurdles are specific to the individual manager, others are characteristic of the organizational structure. Unit 6 identifies these hurdles and explores strategies for affecting the necessary shift. It also explores the role of Sergeants and Staff-Sergeants as knowledge intermediaries.
