Students who approach their studies in a systematic and organized manner are more likely to complete their courses successfully than are those who do not plan how to proceed. We advise you, therefore, to use a study schedule to assist you in budgeting your time and scheduling your progress. The following study schedule is designed to help you organize your activities and complete the course in 22 weeks, well within your six-month contract period.

Be sure to contact your tutor if you have difficulty with the material, or if you are unable to adhere to the schedule as suggested. You may, of course, proceed more quickly or more slowly than is suggested by this study schedule. If you find that you cannot complete the course within the six months of your course contract, consult the current Athabasca University Calendar for information about obtaining an extension.

Note: Students who are receiving financial assistance may face more rigorous time constraints. Please check your course registration for any restrictions on the length of registration, and be prepared to adjust your schedule.

Remember that there are seven media-based assignments and you are required to complete two of them. You may pick the ones that interest you the most, or you may decide to choose your topics so that your assignment work is spaced evenly over the course work.

  Make sure that you have completed two media-based assignments and have mailed them to your tutor.
17 Begin the major essay.
18 Complete Unit 10.
19 Complete Unit 11. Continue to work on the major essay.
20 Write your final draft of the major essay. Follow the instructions given in the Student Manual for completing this assignment.
  Take time now to schedule the final examination.
21 Prepare for the final examination by reviewing the materials in the Study Guide and Reading File.
22 Take the final examination.
