Telephone Quiz

The telephone quiz consists of true/false questions and a description of primate species, as outlined below. It covers the material presented in Units 1 and 2. You may also use the CD-ROM Multimedia Guide to Non-Human Primates by Frances Burton and Matthew Eaton, which has been included in your course package.

Description of Primate Species

Choose one species of prosimians, one catarrhine monkey, one platyrrhine monkey, and one ape species, and find

  1. the common name and scientific name.
  2. information about the geographic distribution and habitat.
  3. a description of basic anatomical features (size, colour, one interesting anatomical feature).
  4. information about the diet.
  5. Information about social organization.
  6. Any other interesting information particular to the species.

Contact your tutor using the instructions provided in the tutor letter, and ask to take the quiz. Your tutor will give you your mark immediately, or in a follow-up telephone call.

Note: You may choose to do this assignment using information you find on the Internet. If so, you must give your tutor the URL for the site or sites you used.
