In this unit, we examine the status of primate conservation around the world. We begin by considering the various factors affecting the survival of primate species, from overexploitation to habitat destruction. We make a brief survey of primate conservation in various regions of the world, and then examine possible ways of preventing the extinction of species. We discuss the reasons conservation is important, and we conclude the unit with a discussion of the role of research and education in primate conservation.
