Celebrate your achievement at convocation

Your journey deserves a celebration! Join us June 9-11, 2027 in Athabasca, Alta., for your convocation ceremony and an afternoon of campus activities with fellow graduates, family, friends, and the Athabasca University community.

Convocation 2027

For the first time, Convocation 2027 will span three days! Over the last few years, a record number of graduates and guests have joined us in Athabasca. This expansion will ensure we can welcome even more people to celebrate together in our home community.

Enjoy breakfast, your ceremony, and lunch afterward at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex. Then continue the celebration by heading to AU’s campus with your loved ones for an afternoon full of activities for all ages. Enjoy live music, games, prizes, and giveaways; connect with faculty and fellow graduates; and explore spaces like the AU Library, Athabasca Architectural Makerspace, and Nukskahtowin—a welcoming space celebrating Indigenous culture and community.

Important deadline

To participate in Convocation 2027, you must apply to graduate by April 30, 2027. All program requirements must be complete by this date, and the Office of the Registrar must have received your final grades.

Please note: Applying to graduate does not register you for convocation. We’ll share convocation registration details as they become available in the new year.

Planning your visit

We know you’re excited, but please wait to book accommodations for convocation. Hotel rooms in Athabasca are limited, and AU is arranging preferred rates at hotels in Edmonton, along with shuttle transportation between designated hotel locations and Athabasca. You do not need to stay at a preferred hotel to catch the shuttle from one of these locations.

We’ll share hotel booking information, transportation details, the daily schedule, and registration dates here as plans are finalized.
