Driving to Athabasca

From the Edmonton International Airport:

• Take Highway #2 north to Edmonton.
• After approximately 20kms turn left onto the Whitemud Freeway. Ensure you are in the second lane from the left so that you can make the turn.
• Continue on the Whitemud Freeway until you exit at 170th Street, taking a right turn.
• Continue on 170th Street out of Edmonton to St. Albert, where 170th Street becomes Gervais Road.
• At the first major intersection in St Albert, turn left onto Highway #2 north (St Albert Trail).
• Stay on Hwy #2 for approximately 135 km until you reach the town of Athabasca.
• You may see the Athabasca University Tim Byrne Centre on your left as you come into Athabasca. This is not the main campus. Continue on, past the Best Western Athabasca Inn (which is also on your left), heading directly down the hill and through the town.
• Turn left onto 50 ave / Provincial Route 2.
• Turn left onto University Drive, marked by the Athabasca University sign at the entry to the road.
• Turn left at the third entry way. This will take you to the parking lot by the main doors of the University.
