Our closest match to your question:
What does audit or credit mean on the registration form?
“Audit” refers to registration in a credit course without the intention of obtaining credit towards a credential. Audit students receive the same tutorial support and learning materials as credit students; however, audit students do not write the final exam or receive a final grade. The fees for an audit registration are the same as for those students paying to take a course for credit.
“Credit” students register in a course with the intent to obtain credit for it upon successful completion.
Students must indicate their intent to either audit or obtain credit for a course when they register.
If you are taking a course for credit and have not yet written any examinations, you may change from credit to audit status. You must apply in writing to the Office of the Registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org before the mid-point of the course contract date.
More information on auditing a course can be found in Section 6.13 of the Calendar.
