English Language Studies

English Language Studies courses through Athabasca University provide adult students with skills for success in achieving their educational, professional, and personal goals:

  1. Confidence and ability to pursue further educational studies
  2. Communication skills necessary to enter and succeed in university or college level programs
  3. Foundations for success in both employment and social situations

Using individualized instruction, all of these courses (except English 149) are open to students who speak and write English as their first language as well as to advanced level ELS students. We recommend that all students take the free, online English Language Assessment before registering for any of the ELS courses.
