Project Management Office (PMO)
The Project Management Office facilitates the assessment, planning, development and implementation of Athabasca University projects. It promotes the adoption and use of a standard and centralized set of processes and resources to streamline and optimize project development and management. The goals of the PMO are
- to assist AU to become a smarter organization by documenting and learning from the project experiences and expertise of others
- to function as a central repository for project-related knowledge and resources
- to ensure that all projects are aligned with institutional strategic goals and plans
- to improve project deliverables by ensuring quality and control standards
- to mentor staff interested in adopting a project management methodology
- to identify synergies between projects arising from different stakeholders
- to optimize procurement of project resources through a co-ordinated, central body
- to improve project development processes and projects through an open and iterative user-centered design approach
- to provide information technology (IT) training
- to improve project-related communication within the AU community
