Hold the CIPS ISP designation or equivalent.
If the potential applicant does not have a degree, but believes his or her education and experience is equivalent to an undergraduate degree, then it is the responsibility of the applicant to put forward this position in writing as part of the application process.
Applications for program admissions will be considered only if the applicant has full and unrestricted access to the World Wide Web.
Currency of academic credentials may be an issue if the candidate has not worked in the IT field for more than five years. .
Non-Program Admission Requirements
Individuals who are not enrolled in the MSc IS program may be permitted
to register in MSc IS courses for which they have the appropriate
prerequisites on a first-come, first-served basis, space permitting
and upon meeting minimum program entrance standards.
Applications to the MSc IS as a non program/visiting student must
be completed online. Applicants should complete and submit the online application
form with the non-refundable application processing fee. Confirmation
via email will be forwarded to the applicant accompanied by an Athabasca
University student ID.
Once confirmation is received the applicant must submit an up-to-date
CV/résumé and a copy of post-secondary
education transcript to MSc IS office
or via fax at 780.675.6148.
The student's application file will automatically go inactive 12 months after the initial application date if the student does not proceed with the application process and/or there has not been any contact with the MSc IS office.
Non-program students are allowed to take a maximum of 9 credits or three courses. After three courses have been completed, the student must apply for Program Status to continue taking MSc IS graduate courses.
Courses taken as a non-program/visiting student may be applied
toward the program degree requirements, if and when a student becomes
a program student. However, Athabasca University is under no obligation
to admit non-program students into the MSc IS program.
