Athabasca University's Master of Arts—Integrated
Studies (MAIS) is a
flexible and accessible degree that
recognizes an emerging need among
university students to have the freedom to design their own learning program.
The MAIS degree prepares graduates to approach problems
holistically, to seek information in new locations, to combine knowledge
and research from diverse disciplines, and to explore interdisciplinary
methods.
Courses are offered through the Internet either in
paced-seminar format (fall, winter, spring) or as individualized
study (starting the first of every month). There is no requirement
to attend campus.
Unlike most degrees, the MAIS curriculum is not built
around any one discipline. The program provides students the opportunity
to pursue an individualized plan of study across disciplinary boundaries
in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
The Graduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting program provides an in-depth analysis of the principles underlying legislative drafting in common law jurisdictions and a thorough introduction to sound drafting practice.
The Diploma will enable students to undertake their own drafting duties with greater skill and confidence. Students will be connected with a skilled peer group and an expert instructor, and they will work in independent study in their own jurisdictions. Additionally, students will participate in online drafting workshops, exercises, and discussions.
This program is ideal for individuals early in their drafting career, those wishing to enter a drafting careers, and individuals from all levels of government and non-governmental agencies or departments involved in planning and writing laws, bylaws, policies, and similar material.
