Open University
An open university is one which has an open admissions policy; that is, one which admits students without regard to their previous educational background or achievements. To enter Athabasca University as an undergraduate student, you must be 16 or older. No other conditions apply. However, advanced programs and courses have academic prerequisites.
As Canada’s Open University, AU is dedicated to removing the educational, geographical, financial, social, cultural and other barriers that often limit access to post-secondary achievement. In doing so, AU guarantees access to university-level study to a broad range of non-traditional students, transforming lives and enriching families and communities.
