October 21, 2008
Congratulations to Sherry Coffey, Repository Network and Content Specialist, who's been named one of Alberta's "new emerging artists" by the Lieutentant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards Foundation. The awards were announced October 20, in Edmonton.Coffey, one of ten new artists honoured in the inaugural competition, was chosen for her work as an emerging novelist.
In announcing her prize, the adjudication panel noted that Coffey "eloquently mixes historical events with fiction to carve an imaginative landscape which draws you in – we can't wait to read the finished novel!"
The Emerging Artists awards were established to stimulate the development of Alberta's promising artists in all sectors of the arts. Each winner receives $10,000 and a medallion from the Foundation.
The awards will be presented by Lieutenant Governor Norman Kwong at a luncheon at Government House in Edmonton on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
